Video thieves & Fur Fright

Wed Sep 2, 2009, 7:30 PM
Ok everyone,

I have asked that the video posted here not be reposted on other video site, like You Tube. For that reason, I watermarked my clips.

I guess the message wasn't clear enough. I just noticed that account: [link]

That person has been posting the latest update in his section. Of course, leecher are defending that person [link]

Is it too much to ask to have a bit of respect to those who contribute content? Why do people have to steal all the work of others and try to cash on it. That person sure didn't go through the work of recording the TV broadcast, capturing it to his PC, trimming the video down, encoding it then put it on a website of his own.

He just took the clip away and lazily uploaded it on You Tube. No mention to the original contributor, no link the site. And while I do all the work, leech like him simply get all the positive feedback.

If you notice any transformation video having my watermark, PLEASE, remind the person that this clip was not made by him and he should, at least credit the source and link back to it or otherwise, delete it.
If that person is stubborn, then be stubborn back too. It's people like him that bring back the "Is TF dead" once in a while. It's people like him that make people quit. And it's leech like those who defend him that make everyone keep their work for themselves.

It's going to be a 3 days week-end. I was planning to do extra work on the site, but I think I'll just take those day off instead. I'm getting feed up to having constantly defend my work and getting nothing back in return.

Discussion in the forum

======================================

On something not related about the site, Furfright is getting close and I'm short in time. This year, dues to work schedule and summer plan changes, I ended up not having time to do a proper room and roommate search for Fur Fright. With less than 3 months left, I need to secure something.

So I'm looking for someone with a room who is willing to accept a (or an extra) roommate. Preferably, someone that knows or heard of me, as I'm not too found of staying with total strangers. I heard too many horror stories about those. Of course, I would be splitting the costs. And of course, that person need to be certain he/she will attend the con.

If you are the person I'm looking for, let me know. This sort of will determine if I'll go this year or not, as I need to reserve my vacations slots. And due to the hunt timing, I'll have to take another 3 weeks off again this year!

You need a(nother) vacation.

Treat yourself nice: get a pedicure, even.

I just noticed something. You have super powers. That is so cool. Can you fly?

It's the internet, man. No matter how mad you get, this kind of thing is going to happen. The best thing you can do is grin and bear it, and be glad the clips you made are getting more exposure.
:icondragoniade:
Problem is, I've been grinning so much in the past 6 years I'm starting to look look like the joker.

It's looks like someone had made it big. When people try to claim your stuff as your own XD. All you have to do is try to contact the main Youtube and tell them that he is putting your stuff online without your permission.

Well, everyone needs a little change. Even if it is to another species.

Seems those guys in the forum are mouthing off at you despite what you're trying to point out.

Indeed. And now, there's a sock puppet claiming to have ubber experience in video editing.

How many time people have tried to told me how to run the site, how to do my clips, stating they know better, without even doing the single work or showing their sample.

Really, wannabe know it all like those people are what drive people away.

You do something nice and ask some feedback, and they shun you. But if someone from their clique rip you off, they're welcomed as hero. Furry and TF people are all the same. That sort of remind me of that other artist whos said she was being rejected until she joined the clique of pedoAffinity, where she suddenly was considered.

Very pathetic.

Sadly, it's not an option. I can only claim the making of the clips as my own, not the content.

And You Tube is only going after the content. The only way is to target the person doing the ripping and asking / pressuring him or her to stop.

I had someone who asked me permission to repost SOME of the clips some time ago. I agreed with the request that person promote the site and don't post everything. I was fine with that because he asked before.

That other person is just another wannabe who wanted to look cool in that Web 2.0 era by posting other's effort.

It's like those loser that grab 20-30 TF drawing, then make a 'montage' with some music and upload it on You Tube.

Personally, I believe in giving credit where it's due in any case. If someone got a video from somewhere else, no matter where it is, they should state where, and the original source if possible. Likewise, the source material for every video posted should be clearly indicated where the video is posted. But this is the internet, so that is certainly too much to ask.

That said, I think this case is more akin to shop lifting than art theft. I say that because, like you said, you're not responsible for the content, but for the packaging and showing. I'm not expert in video, but I know that it's easy to put a lot of effort into anything, so credit should still have been given from the outset.
